
In 1948, the French Benedictine monk Henri Le Saux (1910 1973) visited India for the first time, and began a twenty-five year long quest to fathom the depths of Vedanta and the Upanishads. Abhishiktananda ( Bliss of the Anointed One ), as Le Saux renamed himself, sought to retain his abiding Christian faith while personally immersing himself in Hindu spirituality.
